Mumbai, June 18 - Filmmaker Hansal Mehta won high praise for his critically acclaimed thriller series "Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story" in 2020, and now, after 3 years, Mehta is returning with its follow-up series
Scam 2003: The Telgi Story, directed by Tushar Hiranandani.
The much-awaited series is adapted from the Hindi book "Reporter Ki Diary" authored by journalist Sanjay Singh, who is credited with breaking the story of the scam back in the time. It brings the story of Abdul Karim Telgi, a counterfeiter who printed fake stamp paper. The scam, spread across multiple states, left the whole country in shock.
Ever since the series was announced, digital audiences have been waiting for when it will premiere. On SonyLiv's third anniversary, the streamer announced that the highly awaited show will start streaming on September 2, 2023.
Produced by Applause Entertainment in association with Studio Next, "Scam 2003" stars veteran theater actor Gagan Dev Riar as Telgi along with Sana Amin Sheikh, Mukesh Tiwari, and Shaad Randhawa, among others in key roles. Hansal Mehta is the show-runner this time after co-directing "Scam 1992".
